FAQs

When is the best time to visit the Sundarbans?

October to April offer the best weather and comfortable trekking conditions.

What's the most popular tour package?

The 2-night and 3-day package provides a great balance of exploring and relaxation without feeling rushed.

Are there any hidden costs besides the package price?

No, your package should cover everything.

Is staying overnight on a boat comfortable?

Yes, boats typically have cabins with beds, and some even have attached toilets. Standard boats have bunk beds and shared toilets. For extra luxury, some boats offer air-conditioned cabins.

Are there risks of being attacked by tigers or crocodiles?

While in the boat, you are safe and secure. During treks, you will be accompanied by armed forest guards. Always stick with your group and stay alert to avoid any risks.

How many people can fit on a boat?

Most good-standard boats have cabin accommodations for 20–50 travelers.

Can I bring my pet dog or cat?

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on Sundarbans tours.

What essentials should I pack?

Essentials include a torch or flashlight, binoculars, a camera with extra batteries, mosquito repellent, sun protection (hats, lotions, and shades), comfortable walking shoes that won’t slip, full-sleeved clothes for evenings and cool weather (dark colors are better for blending in), warm clothes for winter, a raincoat or umbrella, any personal medication, reading material, and board games.

What is the ideal group size for the tour?

Smaller boats (up to 25 people) can navigate narrow waterways and offer better wildlife spotting opportunities. Larger boats (35-100 people) may limit close encounters with wildlife.

Why explore the Sundarbans in Bangladesh?

You will experience 60% more of the Sundarbans area, spend 3 full days exploring instead of just 1 day, and enjoy comfortable accommodation on a houseboat with Western toilets, moving to different locations each day. In India, you will stay in village huts and take day trips on engine boats.

What activities are offered in Bangladesh?

In Bangladesh, you can hike hidden forests, relax on sandy beaches, watch wildlife from watchtowers, explore quiet canals in silent wooden rowboats for better wildlife encounters, and visit wildlife sanctuaries up close. India’s options are typically limited to eco-parks and zoos.

Should we start my trip in Mongla or Khulna?

Starting in Mongla saves you 2.5 hours! Fly Dhaka to Jashore and head straight to Mongla port. Alternatively, travel by bus or train to Khulna and board from there. Khulna offers a scenic 3-hour cruise, but Mongla is faster.

Are day tours worthwhile?

Day tours are more like picnics and don’t offer the true Sundarbans experience. You will only visit an eco-park and zoo. Save up for the 3-day adventure instead!

How can I be a responsible visitor in the Sundarbans?

Learn about the reserve before your visit. Dress in dark colors to blend in and minimize disturbance to wildlife. Always have guides or forest guards with you for safety. Use boats whenever possible, and minimize walking in the forest. Stop engines while observing wildlife and taking photos. Walk quietly, stay in designated areas, and don’t litter or harm plants and animals. Respect other visitors and locals. Support conservation efforts. Leave only footprints, take only photos, and leave no graffiti.
